Elderly man nabbed for suspected rape
KUCHING: Police arrested a 70year- old man yesterday morning in Matang here for suspected rape of his own kin — an 11-year-old girl at her house on June 21.
Sarawak Criminal Investigations Department (CID) chief SAC Denis Leong Soon Kuai said the girl’s parents learnt of the alleged heinous act on the same day.
A police report was subsequently lodged at the Kota Samarahan police station before the girl was brought to the Sarawak General Hospital for a medical check-up.
“So far we have learnt that the victim was awoken by the suspect in her bedroom around 2.30am on June 21 and forced himself on her,” said Leong yesterday.
He further disclosed that the suspect would visit and stay over with the family for a few days.
The case, said Leong, is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
