-

MIRI : Despite losing to PKR’s Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng in the 14th general election (GE14) last month when contesting Miri parliamentary seat, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew expressed his thank and gratitude to Miri Senior Citizens Committee ( PPWE) and members for their votes and support.

Dr Teo defended Miri seat with a majority of 13,663 votes with Ting garnering 22,076 votes in the GE14. The election resulted not only in the worst outing for Barisan Nasional ( BN) coalition in a general election but it also led to a change in federal government led by Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Ting thanked all those who supported him in the polls when attending a combined Gawai and Hari Raya celebration at PPWE activity centre in Jalan Puchong here yesterday.

Known as a ‘cool’, gentleman and approachable politician, Ting said he accepted and respected the people’s choice as we practise democracy.

During the gathering, Ting announced RM84,000 govt grant under the rural transformation project ( RTP) fund for the committee to carry out the centre upgrading project, RM10,000 grant under minor rural project ( MRP) fund while a political secretary to Chief Minister Charles Balang Seling announced a RM3,000 MRP grant from Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

Also present at the gathering was PPWE chairman Yee Seng.
