Frankie Nee re-elected chairman of Tiong Hin School Alumni Associatio­n

SIBU: Tiong Hin School’s Alumni Associatio­n held their fourth AGM at a local restaurant Sunday.

Chairman Frankie Nee, in his speech, said they had formed the associatio­n in 2014 to help out the school board and the teachers in running the school.

He said the associatio­n would also help link former students with the present students, and through the goodwill promotion, they hoped to serve the school in providing excellent education.

“The school was built in 1917. In the centenary joy last year, we held various events.”

Among others, they built a school signboard outside the school compound, hosted a basketball competitio­n, drawing competitio­n, jogathon, thanksgivi­ng service and a grand gala dinner. They also built a school monument.

“Our board is now renovating the school and when completed, the school will continue living up to its name as a beautiful and modern school.”

In the election held during the meeting, Nee was re- elected as chairman, with Gilbert Ho as vice chairman.

The secretary is Matthew Cheng and his assistant, Tay Yong Choon.

The treasurer is Siaw Chin Yew and Lau Pon Yin, the assistant.

Dato Thomas Tiang is their patron.

There are 11 other directors elected.
