Teachers assured of full support from Sarawak govt
BETONG: The Sarawak government will give its fullest support to the teaching fraternity as the profession has become very challenging due to socio- economic transformation.
In stating this, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Embas said the Sarawak government was fully aware of the limitation and difficulties faced by teachers in Sarawak and was doing its very best to make sure all children regardless of race get the best education.
Uggah was speaking at an Appreciation Night in conjunction with the Sarawak-level Teachers Day celebration at Tan Sri Kalong Ningkan Hall here Tuesday evening.
Uggah, who is Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, hoped sincere appreciation from the government to recognise excellent teachers who gave their all for the sake of children would give added strength to educationists in Sarawak.
Unlike the good old days, Uggah admitted that teaching children nowadays demand much more from the teachers to ensure that they are able to survive in the ever- changing world.
“Sarawak government wishes to go on record to thank all teachers who serve in Sarawak for all their contributions to teach our children,” he said.
“Once again, I wish all of you Happy Teachers Day and thank you so much for teaching our children throughout the state with full sincerity and dedication,” he added.
At the function, Uggah announced his donation of RM20,000 to the organisers while Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu donated RM15,000 and Saribas assemblyman Mohd Radzi Sitam donated RM10,000.
