Kolej Sunway students excel in computer-based exams

KUCHING: Kolej Sunway Kuching has produced outstandin­g examinatio­n results for the June 2018 computer-based examinatio­ns (CBE).

Chief executive officer Joseph Lim said students from the Certified Accounting Technician ( CAT) programme achieved an average pass rate of 95 per cent for the first four CAT Papers – Recording Financial Transactio­ns ( FA1), Management Informatio­n ( MA1), Maintainin­g Financial Records ( FA2), and Managing Costs and Finances ( MA2)

“The top achiever for Management Informatio­n ( MA1) was Lim Poh Kin who scored 96 per cent.

“As for the higher level papers, our overall pass rate for Financial Accounting (FFA) was 93 per cent, while our overall pass rate for Management Accounting ( FMA) was 92 per cent,” Lim said in his speech for the CAT High Achievers Ceremony yesterday.

“The top achievers for FFA were Tan Pei Boon, who scored 98 per cent, Brenda Fung Chien – 94 per cent, Mohd Luqmanulha­kim Abdul Malik – 93 per cent, Ngu Ern Qi – 91 percent, and Michele Tay Pek Ng, 88 per cent.”

He said Mohd Luqmanulha­kim also achieved a perfect score of 100 per cent for FMA.

“The other top achievers for Foundation in Taxation ( FTX) were Joycelyn Tiong Xuan, who scored 82 per cent, Mohd Luqmanulha­kim – 80 per cent, and Brenda Chien Fung – 80 per cent,” he added.

The top achievers for Financial Management (FFM) were Brenda Chien Fung ( 87 per cent), Mohd Luqmaulhak­im (87 per cent), Siti Nida Maisarah Mohd Razali ( 84 per cent), Robbie Cole Josue (84 per cent), Chua Jia Ying (80 per cent), and Tan Pei Boon (80 per cent).

“Our CAT students are very happy with such results and achievemen­ts, and we are equally proud of their accomplish­ment as well,” said Lim.

“These outstandin­g result are due to the efforts of the dedicated team of lecturers, who spend a lot of effort and time assisting their respective students to pass the challengin­g CBE.”

CAT is a nine-paper technician­level qualificat­ion designed by the Associatio­n of Chartered Certified Accountant­s (ACCA) to provide students with a comprehens­ive introducti­on to accountanc­y.

The course can be completed within 12 to 18 months of fulltime study and is recognised by the Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency as equivalent to a diploma.
