Chang bags second silver at World Para Bowling

KUCHING: Sarawak’s junior bowler Marcos Chang Hao Hong bagged his second silver medal yesterday as South Koreans continued to dominate the World Para Bowling Tour Malaysia after making a clean sweep of four gold medals at stake at Megalanes Sarawak, E-Mart Batu Kawa.

Chang, who finished second in the TPB 9 singles mixed event on Wednesday, teamed up with Abang Yusdi Anuar to register 2,423 pins in the TPB9 & TPB9 doubles to finish 58 pins behind South Korean pair of Mun Gyeong Ho and Min Jin Ho who felled 2,481 pins.

In third place were Thailand’s Sawai Padpong and Somsak Ruamsab who posted a total pinfalls of 2,203.

Lee Kun Hye and Koh Young Bae put up a strong performanc­e to emerge the champions in the TPB2 & TPB2 Doubles after registerin­g 2,305 pins, followed by Japanese pair of Kazuaki Kobayashi and Toru Mori and Thailand’s Weerapol SangwangBo­ripat Chongvivat­hanathan with 2,194 pins and 2,057 pins respective­ly.

Meanwhile, Youk Kyeun Bum and Oh Ban Seok were simply too good for the rest of the four teams in the TPB4 Doubles mixed event as they knocked down a combined score of 2,522 pins, beating Singaporea­ns Muhammad Farhan Ismail and Nixon Fan Jun Jie by a massive 386 pins while another Singaporea­n pair Eric Foo Ming De and Mohamad Rausyan Mohamad Ya’acob were third with 2,136 pins.

Sarawak representa­tives Nur Syazwani Marais and Abang Yahya Abang Azhar managed a fourth place finish with 1,995 pins.

The last event of the day, TPB8 & TPB8 doubles saw Shin Baek HoKwon Min Kyu downing 2,110 pins for the gold while the Malaysian pair of Rosheedy Faizal Roslan and Zahidi Lamsah bagged the silver with 1,889 pins and Hong Kong’s Wong Mei Lan- Chan Tat Kwang took the bronze with 1,840 pins.

Two more gold medals are up for grabs on the final day of the competitio­n today, with the closing and medals presentati­on dinner at Imperial Hotel in the evening.
