Of the number, 57 are outstanding students about to enter college or university and 14 are employees undergoing continuing education programme while still at work.
SEB group chief executive officer ( CEO) Sharbini Suhaili said the power utility and energy developer has committed RM8 million annually for the scholarship programme which is on its fifth year.

The recipients, he added, were selected from 330 applicants based on their academic performance and leadership in extra- curricular activities.
He pointed out that Sarawak Energy is of the belief that the best investment in the future of Sarawak is in education and young people, whether it is through scholarships or educational programmes for projectaffected communities.
“This provides the best path to success and we are privileged to be able to play a key role in securing their future,” he said.
“To realise our mission of becoming a regional powerhouse and employer of choice, we need to attract the best talent in Sarawak and develop our workforce into a high performing team who can compete with the best companies in the region,” he added.
Sharbini emphasised that they believe the annual scholarships are social investment that will generate strong returns, not only for the company but also Sarawak.
“This is our commitment towards supporting and developing potential talent and the next generation of leaders. Sarawak Energy scholars will become part of the high performance workforce needed to fulfill future manpower needs,” he said.
He urged the recipients to excel in their studies and looked forward to some of them becoming part of SEB’s team in the future.
