Project managers speak to Executive College students
KUCHING: Executive College's (EC) Engineering and Technology Department held a talk for Bachelor of Technology ( Hons) in Construction Management ( BTCM) students recently.
Dominic Choo and Gary Yu from Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd spoke on the topic ‘ Construction Industry and Employer's Expectations'.
The project managers of various construction projects in Sarawak shared their valuable experience as well as important work ethic.
They pointed out that both academic performance and attitude are important criteria for higher employability in the industry, stressing fresh graduates must be willing to learn to succeed in the long run.
Industry advisors help to ensure EC's curriculum and implementation are aligned with industry needs.
BTCM is a three-year degree programme awarded by Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur ( IUKL), which is accredited and recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency ( MQA).
Graduates will be able to secure jobs such as quantity and building surveyors, construction project managers, contract administrators, project planners, coordinators or executives, site managers, building contractors, contract administrators, estimators, and property developers.
EC also offers the Foundation in Arts, Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Diploma in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Business Administration ( Hons).
The college offers various scholarships and rebates as well as financial assistance.
All new students will be given a free iPad as a learning tool, integrating technology into the curriculum.
