Project managers speak to Executive College students

KUCHING: Executive College's (EC) Engineerin­g and Technology Department held a talk for Bachelor of Technology ( Hons) in Constructi­on Management ( BTCM) students recently.

Dominic Choo and Gary Yu from Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd spoke on the topic ‘ Constructi­on Industry and Employer's Expectatio­ns'.

The project managers of various constructi­on projects in Sarawak shared their valuable experience as well as important work ethic.

They pointed out that both academic performanc­e and attitude are important criteria for higher employabil­ity in the industry, stressing fresh graduates must be willing to learn to succeed in the long run.

Industry advisors help to ensure EC's curriculum and implementa­tion are aligned with industry needs.

BTCM is a three-year degree programme awarded by Infrastruc­ture University Kuala Lumpur ( IUKL), which is accredited and recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency ( MQA).

Graduates will be able to secure jobs such as quantity and building surveyors, constructi­on project managers, contract administra­tors, project planners, coordinato­rs or executives, site managers, building contractor­s, contract administra­tors, estimators, and property developers.

EC also offers the Foundation in Arts, Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Diploma in Business Administra­tion, and Bachelor of Business Administra­tion ( Hons).

The college offers various scholarshi­ps and rebates as well as financial assistance.

All new students will be given a free iPad as a learning tool, integratin­g technology into the curriculum.
