Education fair for M’sian, S’porean institutions

-

KUCHING: The largest education fair for Malaysian and Singaporean institutions is happening on Aug 7, from 1pm to 5pm at Pullman Hotel here.

The event organiser, EduQuest Education Services is calling on 2017 SPM, STPM, A-Levels and Diploma graduates and their parents to attend the fair and speak directly to the staff of universities and colleges in Malaysia and Singapore.

Current Form 5, Form 6, ICGSE, A-Levels, Foundation and Diploma students are also encouraged to attend the event.

As the education fair focuses on institutions located in these two countries, students and parents can ask about course details and fees offered at the institutions.

Comparatively, studying in Malaysia and Singapore now seemed more affordable than other countries, in addition to scholarships, bursaries and financial aid provided by the government and respective institutions.

Apart from that, the standards in these institutions are at par with world renowned universities.

EduQuest’s education manager Michael Yii said: “This education fair is targeting two groups of students. For SPM and STPM holders, this will be the last education fair for the year for intakes in September/October 2018. Besides, with the UPU application status released on July 30, students who are keen to enrol into private institutions may take this opportunity to enquire and apply for entry in 2018.”

“This is also the last education fair before current students sit for their SPM, STPM, Foundation and A-Levels examination end of this year. This is the best time for them to plan and set their own target. Institutions are also offering scholarships and bursaries based on the latest (first term/ trial exam) results. Students are advised to bring along their latest school results for immediate assessment and scholarship application,” he added.

Parents and students can get more details on popular courses such as A-Levels, South Australian Matriculation, University Foundation, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, law, business, accounting, finance, hospitality, tourism, architecture and design at the fair.

That apart, some nontraditional courses like traditional Chinese medicine, real estate management, film production, culinary arts, aircraft maintenance, physiotherapy, occupational safety and health are also available.

Another highlight of the event is the scholarships and financial aid available at various institutions.

Seeing that 2018 and 2019 are going to be challenging years for most parents due to the current economic situation, institutions are offering attractive scholarships, bursaries and incentives to ease parents’ burden in financing their children’s further education.

In conjunction with the event, students are invited to take part in the EduQuest WordSearch Online Challenge through website http://bit.ly/eqedufair807 where they can win prizes like KuchingKL return air ticket, Starbucks cards, water tumblers and others.

Participating institutions are mainly from Malaysia and Singapore, whereas information on other institutions are available at EduQuest’s booth.

Officers from government agencies will also be at the fair, such as JobsMalaysia touching on current job market demand and PTPTN on study loans.

Some of the participating institutions from Sarawak are Executive College, FAME International College, JM Education Group, SEGi College Sarawak, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, UCSI University and University College of Technology Sarawak.

On average, 97 per cent of MMU’s graduates are able to secure employment within 6 months of completing their studies.
