Local businessme­n, students attend talk on sustainabl­e business model at MPI

SIBU: More than 100 people comprising local businessme­n and students attended a business talk at Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI), here on Friday night.

It was jointly organised by the Methodist Pilley Institute and Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The objective is to keep the general public updated on various issues affecting local business operations and to stay viable.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip spoke on the title ‘Sustainabl­e Business Model’.

Talib, who is Jepak assemblyma­n has considerab­le experience­s in both the public and private sectors in Sarawak.

He has served in the public service starting with State Planning Unit as Principal Asssistant Secretary, Economist in Sarawak Foundation, Permanent Secretary to both the State Ministry of Infrastruc­ture Developmen­t and Ministry of Industrial Developmen­t among others.

Talib was also the Chairman of Sarawak Economic Developmen­t Corporatio­n (SEDC) from 19952016.

He has also served as Board member of agencies such as MIDA, SIRIM, STIDC and public listed companies - Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad and chairman of Sarawak Concrete Industries Bhd.

Among those attending the talk were chairman of Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gregory Hii, the honorary chairman of MPI Hii Ching Chiong and principal of MPI Hii King Kai.
