‘Give part of jogathon’s proceeds to charity’

SIBU: Vice-secretary of SMK Tung Hua Board of Management Kapitan Ting Tien Tiong suggests that they allocate certain portion of fund raised from their annual jogathon be donated to local charitable organisati­ons.

Among the local charitable organsiati­ons are Sibu Cancer Society and Sibu Autistic Associatio­n, to name a few.

“I know that fund raised from the annual jogathon has been used mainly for welfare purposes of the school. Donating certain amount will encourage leaders of the charitable organisati­ons to do better in the work they are doing for society,” he said.

He said this at the school’s jogathon jointly organised by SMK Tung Hua Old Students’ Associatio­n and its parent-teacher associatio­n, yesterday.

Ting said such gesture was a noble one and would make their annual jogathon more meaningful.

President of Ta Ann Recreation Club - Ling Kok Wei, president of SMK Tung Hua Old Students’ Associatio­n - Teresa Wong and the principal Goi Nguok Yew were also present.

Ta Ann Holdings Berhad, as in previous years, has generously donated RM10,000 to SMK Tung Hua Old Students’ Associatio­n .

Wong thanked Ta Ann Holdings chief executive officer Dato Wong Kuo Hea for their generousit­y in supporting their annual activities for the benefit of students.
