Two more illegal immigrants found drowned in Tanjung Penyusup

KOTA TINGGI: Following a case of 24 Indonesian illegal immigrants who were reported missing in the waters of Tanjung Penyusup, here after jumping off their boat on saturday, two more victims were found drowned by a rescue team.

Johor Maritime Enforcemen­t Agency Malaysia deputy director ( Operations) Captain Sanifah Yusof said the victims were a woman and a man between the ages of 20 and 50. He said the two bodies were found by a rescue team and fishermen at 9.50am and 11.10am yesterday in the waters of Ramunia Bay and near the Malaysian Fisheries Developmen­t Authority jetty in Tanjung Penyusup.

The bodies were then taken to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for further action.

Sanifah said the latest finds made the number of victims found to date at 10 people, five alive and five dead. A total of 14 others had yet to be found. — Bernama
