MIRI: Dayang Enterprise Sdn Bhd ( DESB) on Saturday raised funds for two recipients through a charity golf tournament organised as part of its Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (QHSSE) campaign this year.

DESB executive deputy chairman Datuk James Ling Suk Kiong said the tournament was one of several activities organised by the company under its corporate social responsibility.

A sum of RM10,000 each was presented to the Association of Parents with Special Children ( Pibakis) Miri as well as a woman who suffered serious burns after a gas cylinder exploded at her house in Senadin on May 15 this year.

“Under the QHSSE campaign, a series of activities has been conducted such as cleaning up Marina Central Park Beach, blood donation drive, visiting the Blood Bank, school adoption programme at SK Lambir, and ‘ The Biggest Loser’ weight loss challenge among the staff.

“For the charity golf tournament, I am happy that proceeds from the event have enabled Dayang Enterprise to do her corporate social responsibility (CSR) for the two recipients,” he said.

As a public listed company for the last 10 years, Ling said DESB is used to organising such activities to raise funds for various charitable organisations, including Miri Hospital. DESB deputy managing director Joe Ling Siew Loung was among those present at the event.

Held at Miri Golf Club, the tournament saw Timothy Tang emerge champion followed by Els Ling and Tang Sing Chong in second and third, respectively.

Finishing in fourth to 10th place respectively were Pang Kin Pin, Christ Poheng, Datuk James Ling, Wong Teck Chew, Dato Hussin Mohamed, Lim Poh Meng and John Lorince.
