SDI and Digi launch new e-commerce platform

PUCHONG: Aligned with its strategy to embrace Industrial Revolution 4.0, Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd ( SDI) and Digi Telecommun­ications ( Digi) under its digital business arm, Digi-X, launched Industrial Valet, a dedicated e- commerce platform selling industrial heavy equipment parts and merchandis­e directly to customers.

Industrial Valet – www.industrial­valet.com, touted as one of its kind in Malaysia, was created exclusivel­y with SDI’s customers in mind. It is an answer to the increasing­ly demanding customers who value speed, efficiency and value-added innovative services.

Delivering solutions faster, at lower costs, and the savings will eventually be passed on to customers.

According to a joint press statement by SDI and Digi, the e- commerce platform functions as an additional sales channel, enhancing and adding value to customer experience. SDI’s customers now have the convenienc­e of purchasing parts and merchandis­e with just a few clicks online.

Going digital has also created a new window of opportunit­y for SDI to pursue new customers, while closely tracking and monitoring customers’ buying patterns and purchase behaviours, so as to be able to enhance customer experience, optimise customer lifetime value and earn their loyalty.

Currently, there are almost 500 unique parts and merchanise available for online purchase, with more items to be added to the inventory in the near future. Orders will be delivered right to customers’ doorsteps.

According to Praveen Rajan, Digi’s chief digital officer, “Industrial Valet is a solution unique to SDI, built based on a thorough understand­ing of SDI’s e- commerce strategy and the changing needs of its customers.

“The platform works as a new digital sales channel available across any smart device and provides SDI a new way to serve its customers in an easy, adaptable and efficient manner – from enabling customers to buy directly off Industrial­Valet.com to equipping SDI’s sales team to use it as a digital catalogue when meeting customers.

“Our goal in working with enterprise­s like SDI is to help them clearly understand, built and leverage digital solutions that make sense for their business growth, and we believe we are in the best position to be their trusted digital partner, sharing insights and best practices learned from our own digitisati­on experience and developmen­t expertise.”

SDI collaborat­ed with Digi to transform its legacy business due to Digi’s own experience and key learnings from its digital journey. Digi is responsibl­e to build the Industrial Valet e- commerce platform, integratin­g existing backend systems and driving leads to the website.

With the launch of SDI’s e- commerce platform, Digi looks forward to enabling other businesses who seek to experience their own digital transforma­tion.
