Home of Peace to launch new wing tomorrow

KUCHING: Home of Peace in Jalan Landeh near Kota Padawan here which cares for the poor and destitute senior citizens (aged 60 and above) will be launching its new wing tomorrow (Aug 5) at 2.30pm.

The launching ceremony will be graced by Archbishop Simon Poh.

According to a press statement from the Home, the new wing has five bedrooms (each with two beds), nine bedrooms (each with four beds), a physiother­apy room and a chapel.

It will also have one room for the chaplain and one unit of infirmary for priests who need a full-time nursing care.

Constructi­on works on the new wing started in January last year and the project was completed in May this year as part of the Home’s phase two developmen­t plans.

The Home’s administra­tor, Luke Laiti, in the statement thanked all donors for making the project a reality and welcomed all well-wishers, donors and benefactor­s to witness the opening and blessing of the new wing on that day.

Home of Peace is a charitable institutio­n run by the Catholic Welfare Services ( CWS) under the Roman Catholic Church of Kuching diocese and will be serving senior citizens irrespecti­ve of their racial and religious background.

It also provides profession­al nursing care to its ailing residents.
