PPBM no threat to PBB in Santubong, says Dr Abdul Rahman

KUCHING: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( PPBM) is free to set up its branch in Santubong here as such freedom is enshrined in the country’s democratic system.

According to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) vice-president Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Santubong and Pantai Damai constituencies are PBB strongholds and the party will not feel threatened by the presence of PPBM.

“Despite the presence of former PBB members in the new PPBM Santubong branch, they have their own agenda and we understand that,” said Dr Abdul Rahman who is also the Pantai Damai assemblyman in a statement issued to The Borneo Post.

“The situation is not due to internal problem within PBB, as PBB is strong as ever with capable leaders and branches which have been exposed to political work for years,” he added.

Dr Abdul Rahman said it was important for the people to understand the change in political landscape, and called on the people to work with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to determine the fate and direction of Sarawak.

“The people must understand and adopt a mature political approach and understand that only a local party consisting of local Sarawakians can determine the destiny and future of Sarawak,” he added.

The PPBM branch in Santubong has elected Mahmud Sabli as the branch chief, with Ramli Amat as his deputy, Hasni Abdul Khalik as the Women’s chief and Mohd Amirul Ashraf as its Youth wing chief.
