225 teachers and Education Dept staff in Kapit receive awards

KAPIT: A total of 225 teachers and Education Department personnel serving in Kapit Division received service excellence awards yesterday.

Primary school heads in the division also received certificat­es of achievemen­t for excellent results in last year’s Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah.

Pelagus assemblyma­n Wilson Nyabong Ijang, who officiated at the event, said teachers are primary agents of change.

“Teachers make a difference in the lives of their students. Teachers truly are the primary agents of change because you inspire, motivate, teach students to dream big, and plant in them seeds of aspiration to reach greater heights.

“You help students to realise their dreams, make them realise that they too can achieve what was once an impossible feat,” he said.

He pledged to continuous­ly help improve the teaching and learning environmen­t in schools here.

“What is important is that we should ensure that our students understand the sacrifices that the state government has made to uplift their lives and most importantl­y for the students and society in Kapit to be supportive

Among those present were Kapit education officer Ringgit @ Gawan Saut, Song education officer Duncan Luta, Belaga Education Office representa­tive Ho Ek Hing, Kapit Principals Associatio­n chairman Jerit Jamit, and Kapit Headmaster­s Associatio­n chairman John Rimba.
