Sarawak Energy Junior Badminton Championship open for entries

KUCHING: Registration for the Sarawak Energy’s inaugural Junior Badminton Championship is now open to all Sarawakians, permanent residents and those with work and study permits, between the ages of 12 to 19 years old.

In a press statement from the organisers, the Aug 18- 21 competition will be held at the Sentosa Sports Centre at Jalan Stakan and will be divided into the boys’ singles, girls’ singles, boys’ doubles and girls’ doubles for the under-12, under-15 and under-19 age groups where prizes worth more than RM6,000 are to be won.

The tournament will be played on single knock- out system and each player is permitted to participate in one tie per match and matches will be played on a 21 points three-game system.

Those keen to participate in the tournament are to register by submitting their forms to Sarawak Energy at Menara Sarawak Energy at the Isthmus together with registration fee of RM10 per player for singles categories and RM15 for the doubles categories.

Registration fees are nonrefundable and to be paid either in cash or crossed cheque made payable to Syarikat SESCO Berhad.

All entries must be submitted with copies of the players’ identification card, permanent resident’s certificate, and work and study permits.

The closing date is at 12 noon on Aug 10 while the draw will be held on Aug 15 at 2pm at Menara Sarawak Energy.
