Woman unhurt as car catches fire

LAWAS: A woman managed to avoid injury after her car burst into flames at a commercial centre here yesterday morning.

The 32-year-old had gone to a shoplot to buy groceries around 7.40am, and had just stepped out of her vehicle when flames appeared from under the bonnet.

Fire and Rescue Department ( Bomba) Lawas chief Zaki Husin said the woman immediatel­y contacted the department for help, prompting the deployment of a team of firefighte­rs to the scene.

“The victim did not suffer any injuries and only the engine and front portion of her vehicle was damaged,” he said.
