‘Kabong school set for long-awaited upgrade following federal approval’

KUCHING: The long- awaited upgrading of SK Abang Leman in Kabong is set to begin soon, says Saratok MP Ali Biju.

He said confirmati­on of the upgrading works was received from the Education Ministry on July 24 during the questionan­danswer session in the recent parliament sitting.

“The project will include the constructi­on of 30 classrooms, hostel to house 600 students and 12 new units of teachers’ quarters.

“This project will be done after the re- quotation process which may be finalised this month (August) to ensure that the people’s money will be utilised wisely,” he said in a statement yesterday.

According to Ali, the federal government had agreed to the upgrading works after conducting a review of the project to ensure it was consistent with the rationalis­ation of government policy.

“I will personally see to it that the upgrading of SK Abang Leman in Kabong will be done accordingl­y, to ensure its smooth implementa­tion without any delay.

“With this implementa­tion, the wish of Kabong folk in wanting to have a new school building will finally come true after a long time,” he said.
