State PKR women all out for Anwar, Azmin

KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) Sarawak Women wing believes that the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali is the best combination that will steer the party to greater heights.

Its chief Nurhanim Hanna Mokhsen, who congratulated Anwar for being elected as the party president after winning the party polls uncontested, said it was most timely that Anwar should take the exalted position as it is an open knowledge that he is the heart and soul of PKR.

“The party and PKR Women wing have always stood by him and his ideals/visions and PKR Sarawak women wing is very honoured and proud to fully support his presidency. We are 100 per cent confident that he will be able to unite the party and move the party to a higher level,” she said in a press conference here yesterday.

Similarly, Nurhanim said, PKR Sarawak women wing supports Azmin, who is the incumbent deputy president, in defending his position.

At the same time, Nurhanim said PKR Sarawak Women wing was 100 per cent behind party’s Women chief Zuraida Kamaruddin in her decision to contest for the vice-president post.

“We would like to put on record our immense gratitude and thanks for her excellent leadership during her tenure as our women chief. We salute her graciousness to make way for younger leaders and this clearly demonstrates to us her true leadership qualities and teamwork.”

Nurhanim noted that the PKR Women wing under Zuraida’s leadership is at the forefront in Malaysia in championing the rights of women and the latter is relentless in the pursuit of 30 per cent women’s participation in all sectors in the nation.

“The success story in Selangor is contributed by her via the programmes like Pusat Wanita Berdaya ( PWB), Institut Wanita Berdaya ( IWB) and Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor ( KISS) programme. She is also instrumental in giving much needed support of RM200 per month for women in the B40 category.”

Nurhanim said PKR Sarawak women wing now gives their undivided support to “Team YB Haniza Talha and YB Dr Daroyah Alwi” to continue the excellent work of Zuraida.

She said PKR Sarawak Women wing has full confidence in the leadership of Haniza and Dr Daroyah as both women leaders have vast experience in the administration of the Selangor government.
