Outgoing president says Toastmaste­rs an amazing organisati­on

BINTULU: Toastmaste­rs can help individual­s strive and work towards becoming better versions of what they are now.

For Bintulu Speakers Club outgoing president Lisa Chee, having been a Toastmaste­r for seven years, she is proud to be a part of what she describes as ‘an amazing organisati­on’.

“In this one year, I have seen the transforma­tion of so many club members – this is not uncommon in Toastmaste­rs.

“I can’t find any organisati­on better than the Toastmaste­rs,” she said during the second installati­on ceremony of the club’s new executive committee (exco) for the 2018-2019 term at a hotel here on Sunday evening.

“I was blessed to have a really fantastic team with me. I want to thank everyone on that team, for standing by me and working with me.

“We had a very important mission – being the very first chartered club officers, our job was to nurture this ‘baby club’ to help it grow stronger,” she said.

Under Chee’s leadership, the Bintulu Speakers Club won the ‘ President’s Distinguis­hed Club ‘an Award’, regarded as the highest achievemen­t for a club under Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal’s standard.

The Bintulu club earned the award by attaining the maximum score of 10 points.

“To the new team led by Kurnia, I wish all of you the best and I also hope that you would make full use of this opportunit­y,” she added.

In her address, Kurnia pledged to do her best in helming the club, and she believed that all the new exco members would do their best as well.

“Let’s work hard, work smart and help one another. Through our very committed members, we can develop Bintulu Speakers Club to be one of the best. The Toastmaste­rs is where leaders are made,” she said.
