Smart student workshop helps students prepare for PT3

MIRI: A total of 30 students from Bintulu attended a three- day ‘ Smart Students Workshop, Say No to Drugs’ at a hotel here last weekend.

Organisedb­yBintuluWe­lfaredepar­tment (JKM) office in collaborat­ion with Bintulu Education office and Bintulu Children’s Activity Centre ( PAKK), the event was held in Miri to take the students out of their comfort zone and to teach them to be more independen­t, according to Bintulu JKM officer Taddy Ajin.

The programme aimed to inculcate self-responsibi­lity and positivity to help prepare them for PT3 assessment while increasing awareness to the danger of drug abuse.

“Students are the country’s assets, so pay attention to lessons in school, stay away from unhealthy activities and most importantl­y respect your parents and teachers.

“The government is constantly organising positive activities for youths including this programme,” he said at the closing of the programme.

Taddy also thanked those involved in the programme and advised the students to choose their friends carefully.

“To succeed in life, you must persistent­ly motivate yourselves and aspire to be the best and contribute to your families, community and country.

“Do not be influenced easily by negative things in life because they will destroy and only bring failure,” he added.

Also present were PAKK Bintulu chairperso­n Janudin Abdul Rahman, JKM Bintulu assistant officer cum children’s officer Farizah Mohd Tudin, JKM Bintulu psychology officer Remey William Minggu and SMK Baru Bintulu counsellin­g teacher Nur Arani Musa.
