Sarawak Baru Alliance voices out stand for Sarawakians
KUCHING: Sarawak Baru Alliance thanks Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah for recognising the coalition as a credible entity.
Its protem secretary general Julius Enchana, who is also Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) Sibu chairman said the alliance comprising four political parties (PBDSB, STAR, SWP and Teras) had decided to go into 12th Sarawak state election (PRN12) as one coalition.
“We will not contest against each other and we have tasked each party to look into specific matters for the good of Sarawakians.”
Julius also said that Sarawak Baru will not deny the remark made by Abdul Karim about the track records of the parties that formed GPS (former coalition of BN Sarawak) and his comments about the coalition parties under Sarawak Baru which had individually participated in many elections in the past and had lost heavily and losing its deposits in the process.
“We believe that to fight for a good cause is never an easy with obstacles or tribulations. Hence, failure is just a knowledge for success. Past experiences or failures will only make us (Sarawak Baru) more alert and prepare for what is ahead. That is what Sarawak Baru Alliance is all about, as the famous phrase goes, ‘United we stand, divided we fall’,” said Julius.
He also noted criticisms from Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak’s members in social media, which sarcastically commented that Sarawak Baru is just a mere Dayak/Chinese coalition team which adds up to nothing, only seeking political opportunity and self- interest whether as an individual party or as a team.
Julius said that the current line-up was only ‘a pro tem presidential council’ pending its registration with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) after which, Sarawak Baru would have a meeting to elect its Presidential Council in accordance with the regulations and procedures set by the ROS.
Julius noted the many comments from PH Sarawak members that Sarawak Baru, as individual parties or even as a coalition, are just mosquito parties at play.
“We can’t control what they want to say, we as Sarawak Baru Alliance knows very well our priorities and principles for the betterment of Sarawak and its people. We are the ones who have been highlighting on agendas which are being neglected and also sweet promises which ended up in delay with excuses.
“PH Sarawak should know very well the fight for justice and the rights of the people as Sarawakians. The next Sarawak state election is a completely different scenario than the last election. The restoration of Sarawak autonomous rights and the rights of Sarawakians under a secular state are the main agenda of our struggle.
“Even as individual parties, our recent and past statements show clearly our coalition of Sarawak Baru Alliance stand for Sarawak people. The important question in every Sarawakian’s mind now is will PH Federal Government allow ROS to approve the application by GPS and Sarawak Baru Alliance?” asked Julius.
