Motorola P30’s two versions look a lot like other brand flagships

-

MOTOROLA has launched the P30, a 6.2-inch device that resembles an iPhone X — unless you opt for the version that looks like the Huawei P20.

The latest model from Motorola has been released in China and is likely to become more widely available soon. Rumours suggest it might be the same as the Motorola One Power that has been seen in recent leaks.

The Motorola P30 may not come packed with pioneering technology or premium specs, but it does closely resemble a high-end flagship model — just not a Motorola one.

Practically an iPhone X clone, the front carries a slightly slimmer notch, quite common in recent mid-range Androids, together with minimal bezels, all-glass body and facial recognition. Even the multicoloured lock-screen wallpaper used in the marketing material is strikingly similar.

Turn it over and there’s a dual camera setup that appears the same as Apple’s in design on the inside, but differs on the inside with a 16 MP + 5 MP setup that offers background blur. As for the selfie cam, it’s a 12MP. The Motorola logo rests in the same position as the iconic Apple, doubling as a fingerprint reader.

To top it off, Motorola offers the P30 in three colours — Ice White, Bright Black and Aurora Blue — one of which has been dubbed the ‘Huawei paint job’ as it has a blue-to-purple gradient undeniably similar to that of the Huawei P20 Pro.

As for what’s on the inside, the P30 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, 3000mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and two internal storage options - 64GB or 128GB. As a subsidiary of Lenovo, it’s not surprising that the Android Oreo 8.0 device will also come with its parent company’s ZUI 4.0.

Consumers in China might get a 6GB/64GB variant for 1,999 yuan (RM1,185) or one with double the internal storage for 2,099 yuan (RM1,242).
