Pustaka Miri to host Paint the World concert
MIRI: The Paint the World (PTW) Miri concert is back for its fourth edition, with even more activities and interactive music-related charity experiences.
Organised by Painters of Miri, the concert will take place at the Pustaka Miri auditorium on Aug 24, said project director Clarissa Wee.
According to Wee, the mini concert which will commence at 3pm, is open only for its guests from social welfare institutions in the district including about 70 registered volunteers who will assist in managing and executing the concert.
“Our registered volunteers comprising of youths aged 29 and below from various backgrounds will be assigned to become buddies to our special guests. They are fully expected to be like a friend and enjoy the concert together,” Wee told The Borneo Post yesterday.
Local emerging talents including Party Rock Crew and Jane Lim have also been invited to perform at the concert.
“Their performances will be 100 per cent interactive as the audience will be invited on stage to learn a few tricks and showcase it,” she said, adding that the event will be officiated by Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat.
The 4th PTW concert is organised in collaboration with Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports.
It aims at encouraging youths to get involved with volunteering work, apart from bridging the bond between people of diverse backgrounds, including between the mentally challenged and youth volunteers.
“We aim to bring colours to our special guests with our curated entertainment and spirited volunteers,” said Wee.
Special guests of the concert will include over 100 residents of various charitable homes including Sunflower Centre, Association of Parents with Special Children ( Pibakis) and Hamidah Orphanage.
“PTWconcertisaverysignificant event for us as community builders. It is anticipated to bring a positive impact to all participants on every level and instil positive values.
“We look forward to spread awareness of certain needs and conditions of those who are less fortunate and create an environment where people of diverse background can come together peacefully to celebrate the colours of the world,” she added.
Paint the World ( PTW) is a registered non- governmental organisation founded in 2011 that aims to unite youths regardless of ethnicity, religion and social economic standings through acts of charity.
With its humble beginnings of orphanage visits and donation drives, PTW grew quickly as its annual concert has been held successfully since 2015.
