-

KAPIT: Kapit member of Parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Lingggi in the past three days had a full programme visiting his parliamentary constituency together with Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat.

They visited Rumah Roland Banggau, Sungai Tiasa in Ulu Yong to inspect the just completed site levelling works for a new longhouse and a new 4km access road to the longhouse.

During the ‘ leader with the people’ gathering at Rumah Roland, Nanta announced an allocation of RM75,000 for the repair of the 15door Rumah Roland.

On his part, Jamit chipped in RM8,000 for the Women Bureau of the longhouse to carry out their activities and to buy kitchenware. Then, they visited 20- door Rumah Janduk, Ulu Sungai Yong, to inspect a newly completed 4km access road constructed under the Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) allocated by Jamit.

An informal visit to 31- door Rumah William Unchat followed and a project for floor tiling estimated at RM 75,000 was announced by Nanta.

During the visit, Nanta took the opportunity to explain the current political scenario in the country.

He also shared information about the registration of Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) and also the roles of the 19 Members of Parliament from Sarawak who are from GPS. Both Nanta and Jamit joined the Sunday services at the Gereja Methodist Iban Kapit Town on Sunday morning.

After the Sunday services, Nanta informed the congregation of the good news that a cheque from the Sarawak government for RM3 million that was approved by the Chief Minister Datuk PatinggiAbang Johari during his visit to Kapit in 2017 had been received by himself ( Nanta) on behalf of the Gereja Methodist Iban Kapit Town.

The church leaders and the committee were very happy with the good news as they had been raising funds to build a new church for Kapit Town.

In all his visits and meeting the people, Nanta expressed his appreciations and thanks to them for being patient and understanding why he had not been able to be in Kapit and Song very much lately, because of his busy schedule attending parliament session for more than a month and also being very busy with his involvement in registering GPS.

Nanta rushed to Kapit immediately after the last day of parliament meeting on Aug 16. He had been in Kapit since Saturday through to yesterday.
