Sport Boulder competitio­n attracts 29 climbers

KUCHING: A total of 29 participan­ts from Brunei, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak pitted their skills in a Sport Boulder competitio­n held here over the weekend.

Organised by Climb Asend, the two- day competitio­n was divided into four categories namely Twelve and below, Novice Men, Novice Women and Intermedia­te Men.

Allister emerged champion in the Twelve and below category with Aurelia Goh and Alisah Toh emerging first and second runner-up respective­ly.

In the Novice Men category, Hong Wen Yang emerged champion followed by Darius Tan in second and Hazim (third).

Aurelia is champion in the Novice Women category while Amber Lee came in second place and Anne in third place.

In the Intermedia­te Men category, Desmond Tan walked away with the champion prize followed by Karl Breuer and Ronnie Yeoh finishing first and second runner-up respective­ly.

Climb Asend aims at promoting rock climbing and bouldering activities in the city.

It also provides necessary equipment for the climbing activities besides offering training courses and organising competitio­ns for the sport.

At present, a number of youths are receiving training at Climb Asend with some of them having taken part in internatio­nal events and winning prizes.
