PRS women told to change mindset

KAPIT: Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS) Women chief Datuk Seri Doris Brodie has urged women members of the party to change their mindset and live up to the expectatio­ns of the party and the communitie­s they live in.

Doris, who is political secretary to the chief minister, said they have to be proactive and creative in order to stay relevant with the challenge of modern living.

“PRS women should not only play their role in politics, we must also be actively involved in social- economic and recreation­al activities such as sports to keep us healthy physically and mentally and to socialise.

“Armed with healthy body and mind, we can do better to yield better results in our tasks,” she said in her address at the opening of the PRS Women Futsal Challenge at Bletih Stadium here over the weekend.

She informed that the fi rst PRS Women Futsal Challenge was held in Sri Aman last year and this year, by rotation, the competitio­n was hosted PRS Women Pelagus and PRS Baleh.

Last year sixteen teams took part in the competitio­n and this year 15 teams from Lundu to Lawas participat­ed in the competitio­n.

On the futsal challenge, she said it is an occasion for members to meet at least once a year.

yearly and by rotation among the different divisions we can meet at least once a year. This serves as a platform for women members from different branches and divisions to socialise and interact. Sports events like this build up discipline, teamwork and friendship among one another,” added Doris.

Pelagus assemblyma­n Wilson Nyabong Ijang officiated at the opening ceremony.

“Winning or losing in competitio­ns is the rule of the game. What is important is team work, cooperatio­n, discipline and friendship,” he reminded.

Political secretary to the chief minister Nicholas Jantai Kudi, Kapit walikota Philimon Nuing, former political secretary to the chief minister Umis Tujoh and exco members of PRS Women wing were among those attending the opening ceremony.
