Its assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang said those areas requiring clean water include SMK Medamit and the surrounding areas.

He said water pipes were now being laid by Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) in Medamit, the progress of which is about 60 per cent.

“Once completed, people in Medamit and the surrounding areas will greatly benefit,” he said at the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at Kampung Anak Bukit here yesterday.

Paulus said there were many other areas and longhouses in the constituency in dire need of electricity supply.

“At the moment, electricity lines are being connected to three longhouses - Lawai, Lembong and Agan Siran,” he said.

The remote Penan villages are supplied with solar panel for electricity while others have their own water supply by way of gravity feed system.

Touching on the long- awaited clinic in Long Napir, Paulus said the government was in the process of appointing a new contractor to continue the project.

At the event, Paulus handed over RM5,000 each to the Kampung Anak Bukit ‘ hadrah’ team and Surau Setia Bakti.
