Asia e University offers flexible path to Master of Education

-

KUCHING: Asia e University’s (AeU) popular Online Master of Education ( Online MEd) offers flexibility to earn a degree in education without the need to interrupt one’s career.

Online MEd consists of nine core courses plus two courses and a project paper, selected from one concentration area.

Students can choose one out of 10 concentration areas to specialise in – Early Childhood Education, Teaching English as a Second Language, Educational Management, Educational Psychology, Instructional Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Assessment and Evaluation, Science Education, Mathematics Education, and Teaching Bahasa Malaysia.

Online MEd can be completed in 18 months or spread out over a number of years.

The programme is approved by the Ministry of Education, accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, and recognised by the Public Service Department.

Nearly 900 students worldwide have graduated from AeU’s MEd programme, including single mother Liow Zen Min, 43, who has two daughters aged eight and nine.

The EW Kidz Enrichment Center and Wawasan Zen Management owner caters to special needs children and is also a part-time lecturer at Southern University College, Johor.

She enrolled in the Online MEd with a concentration in Early Childhood Education in 2014 and graduated in 2016.

“As an AeU Online MEd student, the real bonus is that as long as you have an Internet connection you can study from anywhere – so far I’ve logged in from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and various airports in between. I enjoyed the enormous flexibility that allowed me to view online seminars, which were recorded so that I did not miss out anything. I also had access to AeU’s digital library with an extensive range of e-books, e-journals and databases, which benefited me greatly in my study,” she said.

“I am also grateful to my supportive mother and also to all the professors, academic facilitators, technical, and administrative staff, whose services were first rate. I cannot say enough of them because their support had been above and beyond the call of duty; and nothing ever seemed too daunting.”

Students can study when and where it suits them, and at their own pace as there are no set lecture or seminar times.

The programme is available 100 per cent online, with all coursework, class discussions, and projects taking place in an online environment.

Students will be in constant discussion with online academic facilitators, receiving regular feedback and continuous support from the online student support team.

They will have access to AeU’s engaging, easy to navigate, and feature rich online platform called myPLS, which supports and encourages students to take control of their learning.

Besides a well- equipped conventional library, AeU also houses thousands of online resources including academic books, journals, magazine articles, newspapers, encyclopaedias, and dictionaries.

The extensive online library resources have been specially designed to provide globally accessible resources for personalised learning experiences.

AeU is a leader in open, online, and distance education, delivering degrees via blended and online study since 2008.

More than 16,000 have graduated from their blended and online programmes.

The academic standards required for all AeU’s blended and online programmes are just as high as those for on- campus equivalents and the qualifications earned are of equal value.

AeU graduates are employed throughout the world and their degrees are recognised locally and internationally.

Admissions for AeU’s Online MEd is through Regular Entry or through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (Apel) entry, where candidates are assessed by their prior learning and work experience.

Those who apply by Sept 28 can get the Merdeka Special fee of RM8,800.
