Curtin counts down to most anticipate­d annual event

MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is counting down to its most anticipate­d annual event – Curtin Malaysia Carnival 2018 – on Saturday (Aug 25).

Themed ‘Discover, Experience, Interact’, the event will run from 10am to 5pm.

Key attraction­s will include the popular Future Students Hub, Faculty Showcases, STEM Exhibition and Curtin Croc Challenge, inter- school competitio­ns, live entertainm­ent, and a wide range of food, beverage and activity stalls.

This year there will be a Mini Kite Festival held in collaborat­ion with Bintulu Developmen­t Authority, organisers of the 14th Borneo Internatio­nal Kite Festival – the world’s largest annual festival of its kind to be held in Bintulu next month.

There will be musical performanc­es by Borneo’s only Ceilidh band comprising expatriate­s from Brunei playing traditiona­l and contempora­ry Celtic and country music and songs in the campus garden at 11am and 2pm.

Hitz. fm deejay Natasha Juan will give listeners on-air updates on the carnival and engage visitors with mini games and questionan­danswer sessions at Astro Radio’s booth from 11am to 3pm.

Visitors can also climb into an inflatable Zorb Ball for thrilling rides next to the campus lake.

Other competitio­ns are the ‘Spelling Bee Challenge’ and the ‘Eco-Business Design Challenge’ from 10am to noon.
