“In order to make sacrifices, every individual must have strong fortitude and identity to develop the country, reinforce unification, fight corruption and do away with ego.

“Aidiladha should be a turning point for us to step up and continue to commit ourselves in uniting all Malaysians regardless of religious background apart from fighting against our own ego and corruption,” said Sekolah Agama Rakyat Miri ( SARM) parent-teacher association chairperson Azmee Abdillah during the school’s korban ritual programme here yesterday.

Elaborating further, he said the development enjoyed by the country since its independence can be negatively affected by corruption and it is time for everyone to unite and set aside negativities for a more prosperous nation.

“In the social aspect, individuals who are willing to sacrifice will create a happy, peaceful and calm atmosphere in a society.

“Helping each other will strengthen relationships with one another and erode selfish feelings.

“It will make Muslims stronger and capable of repealing any unhealthy elements from influencing the community, but sacrifices must be sincere and because of Allah, to please Allah alone, not with the purpose of boasting,” he said, while thanking the committee members and SARM staff for their part in the gotong-royong during the korban ritual.
