Participants revel in good, wholesome fun at Junior Art Market 2018
KUCHING: It was a fun and enriching experience for the young and the old alike during the Junior Art Market 2018, held at Sunnydale 1928 Cafe in the Chemsain building here recently.
The event, which entered its third edition this year, was run by the Small Town Art Market.
It hosted active participants who lined the driveway with booths all the way to the entrance, where the entire foyer was taken over by young entrepreneurs manning their ‘little booths’.
Apart from the Junior Art Market, the building was also filled with children- friendly activities like workshops, exhibitions and performances — all serving as a platform for the participants to hone their social skills, build their confidence and enrich their experience in showcasing their talents.
The little newly-made ones paraded their creations around the market, checking off their shopping wish-lists. Social Booth Kuching, on the other hand, enlivened the day further by turning the moments into free prints.
There were also a street magic show by the Equatorials and a session for writing letters to Mother Nature at the ‘Fun and Educative Corner’.
Performances by children from AG Melody Music Centre were very captivating – a 10-year- old Hayden belted out a song by Anna Kendrick a cappella, using only a cup as his percussion.
Meanwhile at the Sunnydale Cafe, families enjoyed savoury items from the ‘Special Art Market’ menu.
The Small Town Art Market was founded by twin sisters, Marilyn and Rachel Ang of Flint and Steel Borneo, aimed at creating an empowering environment for local creative-makers and nurturing a new generation of creators to take Kuching by storm.
