Coastal villagers urged to rally behind GPS

-

SEBUYAU: The coastal villagers here are urged not to be easily influenced by outsiders, but to stay with the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

In making the call, Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the people would be at the losing end if they were to listen to and get influenced by promises of outsiders.

“The people should be reminded that only leaders from Sarawak are well aware of our problems and take care of the welfare of the people, so it is very important that the people not listen to the promises made by outsiders, but support GPS government,” he said when presenting minor rural project ( MRP) grants at Dewan Pembangunan Sebuyau, on Thursday.

Some 25 recipients received the grants totalling RM268,000.

Julaihi, who is Sebuyau assemblyman, assured that the state government will always look after the welfare of the people and choose its own destiny.

On the MRP grants, he said it showed the state has enough fund to be disbursed to the people to carry out projects in their areas and organise activities to benefit the people.

“Prudent management of the state fund has long been practised by the state government, and now under GPS, the state government will continue to do so,” he pointed out.

Present were Hamsen Atar, who represented the Samarahan Resident, Sarawak administrative officer ( SAO) from Simunjan district office Zainab Alif, Sebuyau sub-distruct office Ajis Ahmad, and Penghulu Abu Seman Suhaili.
