Amirul Adenan SMK Agama Miri’s top award recipient

MIRI: Amirul Adenan received the top special award of ‘ Imam As- Syafie’ during SMK Agama Miri’s excellent student awards presentati­on held at the school Thursday.

Amirul was also the male recipient of former MP for Sibuti Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang’s Special Award.

The award’s female recipient was Nurain Ramlee.

Meanwhile Qaedi Fakrullah Merudi won the special awards for the curriculum category, Nurul Syahirah Ismah Johan (academic) while the Leadership Special Award was won by Nur Fadhli Faiz Sufferi.

Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni presented the awards to the winners.

A total of 183 students from the school also received recognitio­n for their achievemen­t in academic and non-academic developmen­t.

Earlier, Lukanisman praised the school’s effort in rearing Japanese Koi fish in the school drain under its ‘Clean Drain Project’.

He also commended the school for its success in making several aspects of cleanlines­s into a culture of practices for the students.

“This is part of the efforts to improve the learning environmen­t at boarding schools as well as to inculcate the culture of excellence in all aspect of developmen­ts.”

At the function, he announced a grant from the state government worth RM22,000 to the school.

He said the latest amount will top up the RM8,000 government grant which was given earlier.

Also present at the function were school principal Ahmad Fauzi Yaakob and chairman of the school’s parent teachers associatio­n ( PTA) Marini Juraibi.
