Villagers give thumbs-up to ‘Skuad Kasih Sayang’ programme

MIRI: ‘Skuad Kasih Sayang’ of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Bekenu branch’s reachout programme which aimed to help the less fortunate with their daily needs and home repair received the thumbs-up from the community in Bekenu.

Bekenu state assemblywo­man Rosey Yunus who is the chairlady of the ‘ Skuad Kasih Sayang’ PBB Bekenu branch was happy to note the caring approach taken by members when visiting the grassroots members and the community in the constituen­cy.

“Skuad Kasih Sayang PBB Bekenu stressed on caring attitude for the less fortunate, elderly citizens and the poor staying in villages and longhouses here,” Rosey said after visiting five homes in Kampung Muhibbah, Ladang 3, in Bekenu here yesterday.

She added the programme offered a platform to help and be near to the community and see

their problems and assist them in any way possible.

She also said it was a channel to disseminat­e informatio­n to the people on the various assistance schemes available apart from bringing closer the government representa­tives and the rakyat at large.

Rosey said various efforts are made and planned by the Sarawak government to reach out to more people in need including the less fortunate, the poor and needy.

She said, through Skuad Kasih Sayang, its members could be the bridge between the people and the government agencies involved in providing services and assistance to the people.

“Skuad Kasih Sayang is an excellent and effective network for the government representa­tives, community leaders and the community at large to show their caring attitude to the less fortunate and needy, “she added.

She thus urged community leaders to identify and help trace those in need of the the assistance.

During the visit, Rosey handed over assistance to five recipients in Kampung Muhibbah, Ladang 3, Bekenu.

Also present were PBB Bekenu Women chief Hadijah Shiekh Kassim, political secretarie­s to the Chief Minister Julani Mokhtar and Sarkawi Suhaili, Ketua Kaum Hassan Malik and PBB Bekenu Women members.
