Malcolm Mejin to attend Authors Gala Night

-

KUCHING: Sarawakian author Malcolm Mejin will be attending the Authors Gala Night tonight ( Oct 18) at Pullman Hotel, part of the Sarawak’s Authors Festival.

The Authors Gala Night will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Having been based overseas for years, Malcolm is glad to be back to Kuching to be part of this celebration.

“It feels great to be back home. Home is where the heart is. Of all the places I’ve been to, Kuching is a haven for relaxation, where all the good food is. Going back home seems to empower me in some ways. This is where I was born, so probably I feel connected to it in deeper level,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Malcolm admits that once he returned to Kuching, he couldn’t resist the urge to eat Sarawak Laksa almost every day, just like the protagonist in his novel.

“The minute I landed in Kuching, I went straight to the nearest cafe to have a dose of my favourite Sarawak Laksa.”

Malcolm added jokingly: “After having been deprived of Sarawak Laksa for a long time, it somewhat unleashed this Sarawak Laksa monster in me.”

Malcolm’s novel, Diary of a Rich Kid, will be launched in Kuching for the first time during the Authors Gala Night.

The novel is set in Kuching, where the characters live a lifestyle that is filled with imagination, fantasy and comedy.

During the Sarawak’s Authors Festival, Diary of a Rich Kid will be available at the festival’s book fair at MYDIN Vista Tunku, from Oct 19-21.

Malcolm will also be having a Meet & Greet at MPH Bookstore, The Spring, on Oct 20 from 2pm to 3pm. Free bookmarks will be given out.
