Hope Place brings relief to fire victims

KUCHING: Hope Place came to the aid of fi re victims in Bintawa Hilir by sending food items and some necessary assistance to ease their burden.

Yesterday, founder Kelvin Wan and Hope Place manager Heidi Law came to hand over food items like rice, cooking oil, salt, sugar, Milo, milk powder, biscuit, noodles, blankets, bath towels, children’s diapers, second hand clothes and mattresses.

During the fi re, a total of three houses were razed to the ground, leaving 25 victims homeless.

Those affected were Yaakub Abdullah, who has a family of nine with the youngest child only two and half years old, Sabeli Bujang and his family of six with a year old baby and Mohd Bujang who has a family of 10 members with the youngest child two years old.

Hope Place carries out their aid deliveries once in every three months because of the huge number in their recipients list.

Wan said that they are also helping the less fortunate with special needs with special milk and diapers, single mothers with many school- going children, neglected old folks and those whose monthly income is below RM500.

At the moment, Hope Place is supporting more than 180 families.
