Fun bowlers celebrate National Sports Day

KUCHING: Abang Yusdi Anuar and Datin Rakiah Ali were crowned champions of Category A and Category B of the National Sports Day Fun-Bowl 8-Pin Tap at Megalanes Sarawak, E-Mart Batu Kawa last Saturday.

Yusdi registered 699 pinfalls over three games to beat 18 other bowlers and was nine pins ahead of Lee Chong Fui while PTBPNS president Dunstan Lim settled for third with 682 pins.

In fourth and fifth spots were Muhd Zul Adly and Muhd Hazim Sazali with 677 and 600 pins.

Rakiah won the Category B title after posting a total of 840 pins to finish ahead of Alim Sohai (674), Ruhana Bujang (663), Mohd Shahidin (573) and Nur Amalina ( 567).

Meanwhi le the top three winners for the Boys U12 were Mohd Danish Jeehan Jamaluddin (702), Ahmaddin Rejab Zaini (604) and Farish Islam (508) while Nur Amylda Natasha Jemat Zaidil (811), Nurul Asyiqin Hasnan (669) and Anis Nur Amirah Ahmad Nazaruddin ( 595) were the top three finishers for the Girls U12.

The Boys U16 saw Mohammad Hanif Ifran Sulhie, Marcos Chang Hao Hong and Azumi Ahmad Zaini finishing on the podium with 863, 754 and 726 pins respective­ly.

Marcos also hit a perfect game in his second game.

As for the Girls U16, Goh Min Ying was the champion with 514 pins, followed by Kamilla Adlina Abdul Latif and Danyiella Haleana Makerly with 506 pins and 503 pins respective­ly.

One hundred and sixteen students and 34 non- students took part in this fun bowl event jointly organised by Youth and Sports Department, Sarawak and the Persatuan Tenpin Boling Para Negeri Sarawak ( PTBPNS) in conjunctio­n with National Sports Day celebratio­n.

Prizes were presented by Matthew Chin, Robert Lu, Dunstan Lim, Lily Rogermason, Jerusha Chan and Datin Rakiah Ali.
