Rock Wheel 2018 to heat up Redeems Centre in Bau
KUCHING: The ‘Rock Wheel 2018’ will be staged at the Redeems Centre in Tondong, Bau near here this Dec 1-2, featuring various entertainments and exciting activities for the public.
The show will run from 8.30am to midnight each day.
The event, formerly known as the ‘Bikers Country and Western, Rock & Roll 2017’ (BCWR2017), will be hosted by Gogah Enterprise and Grand Spectrum Sdn Bhd.
According to organising chairperson Juliet Tan, it will be the second-time hosting for the organisers.
“Maintaining the same concept as last year’s, we decided to name the event ‘Rock Wheel’ this year, which will have more activities than the last edition. One of the activities planned is the introduction of the ‘Bikers King’ contest, instead of only the ‘Lady Bikers Queen’ introduced last year.
“There will also be a ‘Battle of the Bands’. The highlight of Rock Wheel 2018 will be a gala dinner with guest-of-honour Tasik Biru assemblyman and event patron Datuk Henry Harry Jinep,” she told reporters during a press conference at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) building here yesterday, adding that there would be performances by local artistes as well.
Meanwhile, event coordinator Francis James Noew said in order to make the two-day event even more exciting, stalls selling food, crafts, accessories and other products would be set up.
“During the daytime, we will also have gatherings of car clubs, as well as rallies involving highpowered motor and four-wheel drive vehicles (4WD) clubs.
“As for the gala dinner, we will have three table reservation categories, namely Gold (RM1,000 per table), Silver (RM700 per table) and Bronze (RM550 per table),” he said.
In his remarks, event advisor Patrick Anek Uren said making Bau a place of events was very meaningful as this would provide opportunities for the locals to be involved, apart from offering a platform to nearby residents to engage in small-time business throughout the two days.
