MARUDI: The Malaysian education has undergone a transformation that it is no longer just about children seeking knowledge, but it also prepares them to become quality human capital for the nation’s future.

In this regard, Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil highlights one of six focus points outlined under the National Key Results Areas ( NKRA), which is wider access to quality and affordable education.

“All of us, especially the parents, must all be ready for the renewal and changes in the education system.

“Alongside the changes and challenges, unity is just as important. Having said this, the parents need self-reflection — they must not make their children’s education the sole responsibility of the teachers.

“The parents have to be involved in their children’s education as well,” he said at SMK Marudi’s ‘Awards of Excellence 2018’ event at the school’s multipurpose hall yesterday.

Adding on Penguang, who is Marudi assemblyman, also commended the secondary school for emerging champion of the Chief Minister’s Cup 2018 debate competition and finiship as first runner-up in this year’s ‘ Youth Forum’.
