Offshore worker electrocut­ed to death in home wiring works

MIRI: A man died after he was electrocut­ed while carrying out wiring works on his house at Vista Perdana in Bandar Baru Permyjaya here on Saturday.

District police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, when contacted yesterday, said the 42-year- old man – said to be an offshore worker – was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Miri Hospital.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department Miri chief Law Poh Kiong said the department received a distress call at 5.32pm, prompting six firefighte­rs to be dispatched to the scene.

He said his men carried the unconsciou­s man down from the ceiling and handed him over to medical personnel, who then rushed him to the hospital.
