Four survive as car plunges down ravine

KUCHING: A family of four escaped with light injuries after their car plunged down a 5m ravine at Jalan Kampung Skiat in Bau on Saturday.

The incident happened around 11.30pm and had personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department ( Bomba) being sent to the scene following a distress call.

Upon arrival, Bomba personnel found that all four occupants were able to exit the vehicle with the help of passers-by.

“None of the victims were pinned inside the vehicle.

“They sustained light injuries and were given early treatment by our Emergency Medical Rescue Services ( EMRS) team,” said a Bomba spokespers­on yesterday.

The spokespers­on added that one victim was later sent to Bau Hospital for treatment after complainin­g about hip pain.
