Put aside shyness, go for regular health checks — Fuziah

-

KUANTAN: Women are urged to go for regular health checks to keep track of their health condition and for an earlier detection of disease, especially breast cancer.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department ( Religious Affairs), Fuziah Salleh said periodic checks also helped detect heart ailment and cervical cancer, which are among the common diseases affecting women.

“Women have to put aside shyness and be more open-minded to conduct breast examinations. If it is detected at an early stage then it is easier for the disease to be treated and more chances of a cure,” said Fuziah, who is also Kuantan Member of Parliament.

Speaking to reporters after officiating the Kuantan Breast Cancer Support and Charitable Association’s Handing Over of Funds ceremony here Saturday night, she said at the same time, women should also take care of their health, mental wellbeing and nutritional intake besides exercising as they are the pillars of the family.

“Before we take care of our children and husbands we have to take care of ourselves first. If we are healthy, then only can we take care of our families properly,” she said.

Fuziah also called on families with cancer patients to provide continuous support to the patients so that they can recover and not experience stress. — Bernama
