12 beauties to vie for Miss Tourism Sibu

SIBU: A total of 12 beauties are shortliste­d for the Miss Tourism Sibu beauty pageant slated to be held on Dec 2 at a hotel here.

They are Alicem Ngoi, Bernadette Mai, Christina Ringgir, Cynthia Bayum, Emily Ranya Lenggang, Ivy Kiung, Lim Shin Ni, Martina Huang, Nalinsa, Olivia Siew Lee Hui, Paramjit Kaur and Terrina Rosser.

With the exception of Lim, who is from Pakan, Huang from Kuching and Nalisa from Bintulu, all the other contestant­s are from Sibu.

The event is organised by Butik Carak Dayak and Salon, in collaborat­ion with Sibu Tourism Board and Sibu Resident Office.

Event organising chairman Justine Ipas said a total of RM10,000 cash and other prizes await the winners.

The champion will walk away with RM2,000, a trophy, flowers and sash. The 1st runner-up will get RM1,000, second runner-up RM700, 3rd runner-up RM500 and 4th runner-up will receive RM300. All of them will also get a trophy, flowers and sash. Other subsidiary titles include Miss Congeniali­ty, Miss Social Media and Miss Best Personalit­y.

Justine said the event aims at providing a platform for the contestant­s to prepare themselves for future participat­ion in bigger beauty pageants. The event would also serve to promote Sibu and make it as one of the tourist attraction­s city in Sarawak.

“Besides, it will also unearth the hidden talents of the contestant­s,” he said.

In addition, he said it would also help promote the local designers and upholding the integrity of the local traditiona­l fabric and costumes. The 12 finalists were shortliste­d from an earlier 30 contestant­s who took part in three auditions held in Sarikei, Bintulu and Sibu.
