12 candidates for five FAS vice president posts in coming AGM

KUCHING: The Annual General Meeting of Football Associatio­n of Sarawak (FAS) in Limbang on Oct 27 is expected to be “hot” with 12 candidates gunning for the five vice president posts.

FAS president Datuk Posa Majais said he expects the election to be tight with the divisional affiliates filing in their nomination­s.

“We h ave r e c eive d the nomination for 12 candidates vying for the vice president posts at the closing date on Oct 12.

“Looking at the big number of nomination­s, I am expecting the election to be “hot”,” he said.

However, he sees the situation as a positive sign for FAS because there are many people who want to join the associatio­n.

Posa said with many new faces offering to take up the senior positions, FAS will have a new look after the elecetion as it prepares for the new Malaysia League season.

“I have met all the affiliates and they are mature enough to choose the best candidates who are really suitable for the posts,” added Posa who declined to comment on the election for the president and deputy president posts.

Among the candidates for the five vice president posts are current Vice Presidents Razali Dolhan and Abang Suhordie Abang Zaini, Mohamad Iskana Bujang (Samarahan), Philip Jabu (Serian), Ajahar Bakar ( Mukah), Mohd Saif Jubadi (Sarikei), Abang Zaini Abang Ismail and Nichol Agoi ( Kapit).

Others are Abidillah Majid, Major (rtd) Moses Ripai, Abdul Ajis, Kon Mohamad Ghazali and Othman Sulaiman.
