No tampering of 1MDB report — Ambrin

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Auditor- General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang said there was no tampering of the original 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) report that he had prepared.

“There is no tampering. I don’t know what he ( Wong Kah Woh) means,” he said, referring to the deputy Public Accounts Committee ( PAC) chairman who yesterday claimed the AuditorGeneral’s report on 1 MDB had been amended following instructions from certain individuals.

Ambrin, who now chairs a special investigative committee on procurements, governance and finance, said he was in total control of his report.

“It is my report, I am in total control of my report. That is why I should be given a chance to explain to the PAC,” he said on the sidelines of the Anti- Corruption Summit 2018 here yesterday.

When debating the 11th Malaysia Plan mid-term review in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday, Wong claimed that changes were made during the time of the previous government, adding that several agencies including the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission, Attorney- General’s Chambers and Bank Negara were also crippled in pursuing the matter then.

It was also reported that PAC on Monday postponed indefinitely its hearing on 1MDB as announced by its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee in a statement.

Ambrin was to have given a statement yesterday in the proceedings on the reinvestigation of 1MDB.

On why his meeting to testify before the PAC was postponed, Ambrin said the query should be directed at Kiandee. — Bernama
