MARUDI: All members of the district’s ‘ Muafakat Komuniti Malaysia’ (Solidarity Community of Malaysia) are commended for showing deep commitment and enthusiasm in all ‘National Month’ activities run throughout August this year.

Formerly known as ‘ Komuniti 1Malaysia’, the movement was officially rebranded on July 21 this year following the decision reached by the top management of the Information Department during a meeting on ‘ Strategic Planning and Direction’ in Penang.

According to Information officer for Miri and Bintulu divisions Aba Sam, the activities held throughout ‘National Month’ were meant to foster closer relationship not only between members of the local communities, but also between them and the government through its departments and agencies.

“These activities, including the ‘Keceriaan’ competition, also served to promote programmes run by the Information Department and to have the people know more about its roles.

“They are also meant to enhance the spirit of unity in the communities,” he said at ‘Malam Santai’ event at a restaurant here on Monday, which hosted members of five local Muafakat communities – namely those from Kampung Pemindahan Marudi, Kampung Narum, Tiong Hua, Sungai Malang and Sungai Brit.

The event also saw the presentation of ‘ Keceriaan Awards’ to Marudi Fire and Rescue Department, Royal Malaysia Police of Marudi, Ambang Wira Marudi, Anjung Komuniti Kampung Permindahan and Mohd Zulkifli of Kampung Pemindahan.
