Upcoming talk to brief community leaders about devt plans for Telang Usan, Mulu

-

MIRI: Community leaders, including village headmen and longhouse chieftains, from Telang Usan and Mulu are encouraged to attend a talk on infrastructure development plans for these two constituencies, tomorrow ( Nov 1).

The session will take place at Mega Hotel here, says Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

According to him, the organisation of this talk came about after a request forwarded by him and Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala to Sarawak government, for a gathering where government officials could brief local community leaders on various development plans meant for their areas.

“We hope that after attending the talk, the participants would be able to share the knowledge and messages that they have obtained to their fellow villagers, so that everybody would be aware of future infrastructure and development plans for our constituencies,” Dennis said in his opening speech at the 33rd SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai Jau’s ‘ Excellence Awards 2018’ ceremony in Long San, Baram recently. Dennis pointed out that projects in the pipeline would cost billions of ringgit.

“Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has approved a considerable amount of funding for us to upgrade our rural roads.

“Some villages will continue to be provided with solar-generated electricity (supply), while some will be included in the water treatment plant projects including Long San, where the works are expected to commence early next year,” he said, adding that there are also requests made by several villages for upgrading works on their telecommunication services.
